FLAC player for Mac with a spectral waveform
Claimp is a free FLAC player for Mac built for DJ set preparation. It plays local files, shows the whole track as a spectral waveform, and keeps a sortable playlist beside the music.
Is there a Mac audio player with a waveform?
Claimp shows the complete track as a spectral waveform. Height represents loudness, so quiet passages and peaks have a visible shape. Colour represents the frequency spectrum from red bass through yellow, green, and blue to violet highs. Click a position in the waveform to seek there.
That view helps with a local FLAC library because the intro, drop, and breakdown can be seen before playback reaches them. The image below shows the waveform used by the player. Wave height can also be adjusted in Settings.
What does a FLAC player for Mac add for DJs?
Claimp combines playback with a playlist made for track selection. It includes Year, length, kbps, BPM, and Key columns. Sort any column, drag headers to reorder them, resize borders, filter by typing a few letters, and switch on the played lamp after a track has appeared in the mix.
BPM and musical key can be analyzed on-device through MusicUnderstanding in macOS 27. Claimp writes the result into TBPM/TKEY or BPM/INITIALKEY tags and shows key in Camelot notation. Tracks, analysis, playlist state, and played marks stay on the Mac.
Is Claimp a free FLAC player for Mac?
Yes. Claimp is free and open source under the Apache-2.0 license. It is a native Swift and AppKit app for macOS 27 or later. A row or the cover art can drag the real audio file directly into Ableton, Bitwig, or Finder without an export step.
Claimp does not mix or blend tracks and does not replace rekordbox, Serato, or djay for a live performance. It is a compact player for listening to local files and preparing a set, with no cloud involved.
